The agreement will benefit the Mexican business sector which will be able to access satellite-based broadband solutions at very competitive conditions to cover its connectivity needs.
The agreement combines connectivity services in the Ku band and the new Ka band from the Amazonas 5 satellite.
MADRID, 13 March 2018. HISPASAT, the Spanish communications satellite operator, has signed a multi-year agreement with the Mexican telecommunications company GlobalSat to offer broadband communications services for small and medium-sized companies in Mexico. The agreement will allow high quality satellite-based connectivity business solutions to be offered to SMEs from any sector (banking, energy, mining, petroleum, agricultural, among others) that want to meet their current broadband needs and cannot find appropriate technological options on the market. These solutions are also suitable for government services.
The services in the Ka band will be provided through the Amazonas 5 satellite, which started operating last November with a powerful payload in these frequencies; while the Ku band comes from Amazonas 3, launched in 2013. Both are located in the 61º West orbital position and have coverage for several Latin American countries, including Mexico.
In order to provide the services, they will work with the ground station for the Ka band that HISPASAT is installing in Ixtlahuaca (State of Mexico), together with GlobalSat's ground station for the Ku band located in Tijuana (Baja California), which will allow flexible and robust solutions to be offered at lower costs, tailor-made for the companies throughout the republic.
