The Hispasat ground segment is formed by several control centers distributed between Europe and America. Currently, from the HISPASAT Control Centers there are managed satellites in orbital positions 30º O, 61º O and 29º E.

The Control Centers perform the orbital control of the Hispasat satellites, having capacity to operate satellites in nominal and emergency configurations. Among other functions, it performs the reception of telemetry, the sending of telecommands, the sending of localization tones (ranging), the calculation of orbits, the planning and execution of operations and tests in orbit.

The Control Centres also perform functions of the Network Operations Centre, managing the capacity of the satellites, giving support to customers, line-up/down of carriers, monitoring of signals, interference detection and resolution of anomalies, as well as the operation of digital platforms for the provision of satellite Bandwidth services to major customers and service providers.

The Hispasat Ground Segment network consists of four Control Centres (Arganda del Rey, Tres Cantos, Las Palmas and Serviente) and other earth stations with telemetry and telecommand capacity and monitoring of carriers (Maspalomas/España, Guaratiba/Brasil, Balcarce/Argentina, Ciudad de México /México, Bogotá/Colombia, Arica/Chile, Laredo/USA and Hauppauge/USA).

The main network of the Hispasat Control Centre is located in Arganda del Rey. Below is a brief description of its capabilities.

Control Centre of Arganda del Rey

The Control Centre of Arganda is situated 35 km from Madrid and is easily accessible by road. To provide the best service to customers, it has 24/7 surveillance, electronic security systems, autonomous generation for power failure in the commercial power supply, automatic detection and extinction of fires, meeting rooms and videoconferencing systems, storage areas, possibility of connection via optic fiber to other operators, etc.
