The presidents of Redeia, Hispasat and SEPI visited the facilities of Thales Alenia Space today to learn more about the manufacturing process of the Amazonas Nexus
Hispasat’s latest satellite is focused on connectivity in remote environments and aerial and maritime connectivity in the Americas, Greenland and the north and south Atlantic corridors

The presidents of Redeia, Beatriz Corredor, Hispasat, Jordi Hereu, and SEPI, Belén Gualda, visited the manufacturing site of Hispasat’s upcoming satellite, the Amazon Nexus, to learn more about the project in person before the satellite’s launch scheduled for the start of 2023 in Cape Canaveral (Florida). Together with the company presidents, during the visit to the Thales Alenia Space facilities the CEOs of Redeia, Roberto García Merino, and Hispasat, Miguel Ángel Panduro, as well as the managing director of the Telecommunications Business of Redeia, Mariano Aparicio, and the board member of Redeia, and director of participations in SEPI (Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales) Mercedes Real, all witnessed the complex final preparations, including the numerous tests which it has been subjected to on Earth to guarantee that the satellite will operate correctly once in service.
The Amazonas Nexus will cover all of the Americas, Greenland and the north and south Atlantic corridors and will be focused on connectivity services in remote areas and in aerial and maritime mobility settings. This satellite will feature a cutting-edge Digital Transparent Processor (DTP) that will allow it to increase its geographic flexibility if changes occur to the initially proposed business scenarios. HISPASAT has reached several commercial agreements for long-term leasing of the capacity on the Amazonas Nexus with operators and service providers in the governmental sphere and connectivity for the aviation sector.
