HISPASAT Canarias was founded on 22 December 2000. The company seeks to develop strategies established by the Group related to the orbital position 61° West, which is to strengthen its presence in the Americas and channel its international expansion. Moreover, HISPASAT Canarias provide satellite telemetry and telecontrol services, as well as consulting in the satellite telecommunications field.
On 2 July 2003, the company HISPASAT de México was established. The corporate purpose of this company is to take full advantage of the radio spectrum, the telecommunications networks and satellite communication, and to market and offer telecommunication services in Mexico, with the consent of the Secretariat of Communications and Transport if necessary.
HISPAMAR Satélites was founded on 18 June 2001. Its corporate purpose is commercial use and operation of Group satellites located at 61° West.
To develop this activity, HISPASAT is supported by Oi (formerly Telemar), the Brazilian land-line operator for the north and east of Brazil and a preferred partner in Brazil.
Oi has a 19.04 percent holding in the company. HISPAMAR Satélites also manages the control center in Rio de Janeiro. Regarding to HISPASAT Brazil, founded on 23 November 1999 and its main activity is the marketing in Brazil of space capacity of HISPASAT's satellites located at 30º West.
HISDESAT Servicios Estratégicos was founded in July 2001 as a strategic bid by the Spanish Ministry of Defence and the HISPASAT company to provide high-quality services in the market of secure satellite communications on the X and Ka frequency bands. The main activity of HISDESAT is the acquisition, operation and marketing of satellites for government use.
HISDESAT also provides strategic communication services to international organisations and allied countries. Through its participation in the US company Xtar Llc, HISDESAT complements the government satellite communications system of the Spanish Ministry of Defence with the Xtar-Eur satellite. HISDESAT also participates in the Canadian company ExactEarth Ltd, as well as in Infoterra, S.A. and HISDESAT Canarias, S.L.U.
On 2 December 2005, HISPAMAR Satélites set up the HISPAMAR Exterior company in Spain. The corporate purpose of this company is to lease and market the space capacity of Group satellites located at 61° West outside the Federal Republic of Brazil.
Galileo Sistemas y Servicios was founded on 27 October 2000. Its corporate purpose is the development, implementation, operation, use and marketing of global navigation satellite systems linked to the Galileo project, promoted by the European Union and the European Space Agency (ESA).
