Management social, economic and environmental impacts
02The HISPASAT Sustainability Report for 2019 summarises the company’s performance in managing the main social, economic and environmental impacts of its activities, related to both internal and external stakeholders.
The operator is committed to providing telecommunications services that generate added value for customers and shareholders as well as the other stakeholders with which it interacts: suppliers, employees and the community.
Each of them has a relationship with HISPASAT for different reasons, influences the company in various ways and interacts with it through specific channels, as well as having their decisions influenced, to a greater or lesser degree, by the activities that HISPASAT undertakes.
The contents take as a reference the requirements of Law 11/2018, of 28 December, on non-financial information and diversity.
Both Law 11/2018 and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, the most extensive international framework for preparing sustainability reports, feature in the need to provide information about the issues that are really relevant to the company and its stakeholders.
HISPASAT determined the material issues as a result of internal reflections made in connection with the design and approval of the Sustainability Master Plan in 2015. Several internal and external sources were considered in this task, which made it possible to establish a diagnosis and identify the most relevant areas on which HISPASAT would focus its action plan. In 2019 we carried out an assessment of the evolution of sustainability in the company, contrasted with trends in sustainability and a review of the master plan, as well as actively listening to employees, a survey on sustainability to customers and suppliers, and the identification and inclusion of the SDG perspective on the HISPASAT sustainability plan.
This work has allowed HISPASAT to update and personalise the material issues that we had previously identified and to associate them with the great challenges that society as a whole is facing today; those brought together by the United Nations 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
HISPASAT’s commitment to contributing to social and economic progress is thus shown in all its magnitude.
